Time to celebrate the San Jose Municipal Rose Garden being named "America's Best Rose Garden" by the All-America Rose Selections. We kick off the festivities on Sat Sep 4 at 9:00 am with the Award Presentation. On hand will be the Mayor of San Jose, Chuck Reed, and Councilmember Pierluigi Oliverio, along with representatives of the All-America Rose Selections. Other special events include a Historical Hightlights Tour at 10:30 am, and at 11:00 am a Speaker Series in the Garden "Creating Tomorrow's Roses Today" by Jacques Ferare, Director of Research for Star Roses. And of course in between volunteers will have the opportunity to do some deadheading and weeding (of course!)
It has been quite a journey. From probation to elation in less than 3 years. Over 3,000 volunteers from around the Bay Area and beyond participated, clipping, weeding, and planting roses. It's been a labor of love, so it makes sense the celebration is Labor Day weekend. Come share in the special day, and bring a friend!
